What do you do with a bunch of ripe bananas sitting in the fruit bowl, – you know those ones that are a bit black that the kids won’t touch – Make Banana Muffins of course.

Fair warning though, this is NO ordinary Banana muffin.  As well as being sweet and fruity with all the goodness of 3 mashed bananas, these Nutella-Swirl Banana Muffins have a teaspoon of nutella swirled through the top and a handful of chocolate chips thrown in for good measure.

These Muffins are amazing, light and moist and the combination of banana and Nutella is out of this world.

They couldn’t be more easier to put together – dry ingredient into the wet ones, a quick stir with a wooden spoon and that;’s the batter done.  Just pour the batter into the muffin liners and swirl a tsp of Nutella through the top.  Bake for 20 mins and hey presto you have the most delicious banana muffins you have ever tasted.

I got 9 big muffins of this batter and soon as they were just cooled they were swiped off the plate by four hungry teens, who said they were ABSOLUTELY SCRUMPTIOUS.

I love these kind of recipes, they always turn out to be the best.  A simple and delicious treat that combines the flavour of Nutella and sweetness of the Banana.  These scrumptious Nutella-Swirl Banana Muffins have it all.

 

Nutella-Swirl Banana Muffin

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 20 minutes

Total Time: 25 minutes

Nutella-Swirl Banana Muffin

A simple & delicious treat that combines the yummy hazelnut Nutella and sweetness of the Banana. These scrumptious Nutella-Swirl Banana Muffins have it all.

Ingredients

  • 450g plain flour
  • 1tsp baking powder
  • 1tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 mashed bananas
  • 100g brown sugar
  • 100g caster sugar
  • 50 ml veg oil/ sunflower oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 9 tsp Nutella
  • 50g chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat oven 180c . Line a muffin or cupcake tin with paper liners.
  • Sieve the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt into a bowl and put to one side
  • Mash the Bananas.
  • In another bowl add both sugars, the mashed bananas , egg, oil and vanilla extract.
  • Whisk until you have a nice smooth batter.
  • Add the flour mix into the wet mix and fold gently and whisk until it is smooth.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips
  • Pour the mixture into the muffins liners 2/3rd's full in each. (it is a thick batter, so I used an ice-cream scoop)
  • Warm the Nutella in the microwave for a few seconds (it makes it easier to swirl)
  • Put a teaspoon of Nutella on each muffin and use a small tooth pick to make a swirl on top of each muffin.
  • Bake for about 20 mins

    What a fantastic idea. In all my years of baking of made plenty of banana muffins but I haven’t added Nutella. We certainly enjoy that spread and it would be a great addition.

      Definitely try it Marisa..It-gives the banana muffin a delicious lift and only uses a teaspoon swirled at the top x

    Funny thing, I didn’t even know Nutella existed until about two years ago. It seemed to be everywhere, people were making things with it, and stuffing their faces. I finally got to taste it, and omg it is the best! These muffins, I’m sure are amazing!

    LOL at four hungry teens in the house. I remember those days … it’s a great way to manage your waistline … because who gets to eat anything when the teens inhale everything! This recipe looks amazing, I’m sure they weren’t kidding when they said the muffins were delicious.
